You do not have to do it all in one shot. You just have to take action every day to move in the right direction. It does not matter how small the action may be, what does matter is that you took action at all. Momentum builds on itself and soon you will find yourself cruising towards your goals. If you have a small goal of getting to $4001 in a month, then you better give yourself a reward the moment you make that 4001st dollar. You have to get into a habit of giving yourself rewards no matter how big or small the accomplishments. By celebrating the small goals you are preparing yourself for receiving the large goals. The rewards do not have to be huge, go buy that ice cream cone you want for getting that small goal. Treat yourself to dinner when you hit those medium goals. Treat yourself to a nice vacation when you hit the large goals. Always reward and always celebrate.
The electronic spreadsheets have become an office standard ever since the first such computer programs became commercially available more than 20 years ago. And with its popularity there has become a need for spreadsheet training to keep employees up to date with their knowledge and skills or using it. Back during the infancy of this software, most people would use it for just two reasons: to store data (especially customer database) and as a glorified calculator. Perhaps because those are a spreadsheets intended or more practical uses or that people are not really that trained to use its features to the fullest. You would even be surprised that up to now there are office employees who, when they are prompted to make some calculations, they would open their spreadsheet software and do the calculations there.
After being rejected and coddled by the market one too many times, I came to the realization that I was literally spinning my wheels with no chance to succeed unless I could figure out exactly what was adding to my bottom line and conversely, what was keeping me from being just another "break-even" trader. I had already created a simple trading spreadsheet that told me the basics, but I had no way of tracking the overall performance of my trading activities. I finally resolved never to take another trade unless the primary reasons for taking it could be analyzed over a sample number of trades. The result? I created a multiple categorical performance tracking sheet that would soon have me climbing the ladder of success. Lots of work and planning went into this project, but afterward I had concrete evidence that told me when I should step on the gas, or when to put on the brakes. What I created told me key statistics in six different categories, which led to a confidence boost that cannot be described.
