A popular desktop programme that is often used in conjunction with this product is MS presentation software PowerPoint. PowerPoint gives you the opportunity to create professional-looking files that contain data in many forms, including numerical and pictorial. If your presentation could benefit from being bolstered by figures than you may like to book a training course that can help you get to grips with how MS Excel documents can be shared. The process of moving data from your worksheet to a PowerPoint file is straightforward. While in PowerPoint you need to identify the area of the document that you wish to receive the MS Excel file, then you simply use the Paste Options button to import data. In addition to adding your spreadsheets to the presentation programme, you can also copy and paste tables and charts, which can help bring your presentation to life.

In an analysis of multiple studies dating back to 2008, Marketwatch reported last year that almost 90% of Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets contain errors. Even when created with the utmost care, the number and complexity of the formulas contained in our spreadsheets create significant opportunities for bad data. With about 1 Billion users of Microsoft Office users in the world, the absolute number of errors that potentially exist range in the hundreds of millions. We have some thoughts on how to prevent errors in Excel spreadsheets. Here are three of them: Most Errors are Caused by Bad Calculations: Check Your Formulas Methods of testing your formulas range from the simple to the absurdly complex. Lets ignore the stuff on the right side of the spectrum, and stick to what we can do right now. Did you know that highlighting a cell that contains a formula and pressing "Ctrl + [" will reveal the cells that feed into the total? Its a simple yet effective way to understand your data sources and identify what you missed, and what might have been double-counted. Simple stuff.

Download the software and when complete it will automatically open Excel and ask you if you will like to enable macros that are part of the add-ins. You should click enable and then open the spreadsheet that you want to unlock. Two new options will appear under the Tools button; Unprotect Workbook and Unprotect Sheet. This program only works on 2000 and 2003 versions of Windows. Windows 2007 uses a more complex encryption method making it too difficult to crack. If the forgotten Excel password is associated with the file that contains the workbook then this password also needs to be bypassed. You will need to find software that unlocks all types of passwords, for files, workbooks and spreadsheets. Some of these products offer a free demo that will show you the first two characters of your password. This may be enough to jog your memory, otherwise you will need to purchase the product.

Add a Picture to the Background of the Comment This also involves adding an additional button to the Quick Access Toolbar. Follow the first four steps we used previously but this time add the Format command. Continue following steps 5 through 7 8. Click the Format button on the QAT 9. From the bottom of the list choose Format Comment 10. Click on the Colors and Lines tab If you only have a Font tab, go back and repeat step 7. 11. Click the drop-down next to Color and choose Fill Effects 12. Choose the Picture tab and then click on Select Picture 13. Navigate to the picture you want to use and select it 14. OK both the dialog boxes Voila, your comment now has a picture background. Comments are extremely useful to share your thoughts and ideas with others or simply to remind you of things you have done or need to do. You may never need to change the shape or add a picture to the background, but knowledge is power. You never know when ones of these skills could be just what you need. Spreadsheet bid calculators are evolving through years of trial and error by individuals designing their own spreadsheets due to cost and affordability, which is a viable option for them if they have time to design these spreadsheets. Large contracting firms compile their constructions bids using expensive standalone programs, because they have proven platforms with a record of accuracy. Spreadsheet calculators deliver detailed bids to the user with excellent results and without the high operating cost of expensive programs. Spreadsheet calculators when placed on a laptop give contractors flexibility to estimate small projects and/or large projects on construction projects. Contractors waste valuable time and money returning to the office with the clients project information just to calculate the bid, then return to deliver the clients bid. Spreadsheet calculators calculate the required 10% overage on materials, including the contractors pricing structure for labor/material/equipment designed in the calculator.

You can add more data if you would like or even use an already existing spreadsheet. The choice is completely up to you; however the steps to reformat the column widths are all the same as you will soon see. The next step is to highlight the columns that you want to reformat. To reformat the columns we are using in our example, using the month names, you need to click on the column header labeled "A". Now hold down the "shift" key and click the column header labeled "L". In other words you are clicking the first column and the last column. If you chose to use your own spreadsheet, your columns that you use may be different. You could also click on column header "A" and holding down the left mouse button, drag the cursor over top of the final column, in this case "L", and let go of the mouse button. Either way is fine.

If you share Excel spreadsheets with other people, you may want the option to leave comments to explain why you have done something, or to ask questions of the other users in regard to the data. Rather than picking up the phone, or sending a lengthy email you can put comments onto the spreadsheet. Comments are a lot like sticky notes that can be viewed, or removed. You may know the basics of adding comments, but I have included a few lesser known tricks. These skills can be used in any version of Excel although the 2013 and 2007 version steps may be a little different from the ones I am describing for Excel 2010. The Basics The basic commands for comments can be found using your Right-click menu or the Comments group on the Review ribbon. When you choose New Comment, a box will appear that includes the user name of your computer (you can change this in the General tab of the Excel Options) and a cursor that indicates it is waiting for you to start typing. When you navigate away from the cell the comment box will disappear and be replaced by a red triangle in the top right corner. Any time you hover over a cell with a red triangle, the comment will be displayed.

I cant express how much this can create a lot of issues like losing the ability to sort data correctly, use copy and paste correctly and the ability to run VBA code as its does not handle merged cells very well. One great way around is to use the alternative Centre Across Selection. This can easily be achieved by Format | Cells Alignment | Horizontal | Centre Across Selection. Give this alternative a try. 7. Always try to leave at least three or more blank rows above your data table. This can be easily used for criteria for features such as database functions and advanced filtering. Formatting a spreadsheet is something that can be a personal choice in particular colour schemes, or how busy the spreadsheet is, but one should always keep in mind the user, and how easy it is for a new user to follow your spreadsheet. In summary keep it neat, simple and adhere to predefined formats to eliminate any slow down or errors in formulas due to incorrect cell formatting.
