I use the spreadsheet along with MsWord to create a mail merge, the two programs work together to print addresses directly on flyers, post cards or envelopes. I can print 10,000 names in a few hours. There is no need to print labels and then have to stick them on your mailer. Another use for the spreadsheet is to do job costing. You can keep track of your painters hours and compare those hours to the hours you used to calculate the estimate for the job. Enter the painters names in the first column, you can then enter to rooms or job names in the first row. Then in each column under the room name put the hours or you can break it down further, putting the separate items like walls and molding/trim and keep track of the hours spent doing individual items. Of course there is always the profit and loss statement or spreadsheet with all expenses, which you give to the accountant. Using the spreadsheet to keep track of company expenses is a good use, and again you can use the "AutoSum" feature to keep totals. One nice thing about Excel is that if you change a figure in the column or row that you are totaling, the "AutoSum" will automatically adjust the total to reflect the new figure. So whatever uses you find for this program, you will find that it saves time and energy to do these repetitious jobs. And it will do things like adding or multiplying correctly and with ease.

Making the right choice or finding a solution that meets IT needs is what has probably kept the XL spreadsheet alive in asset management all these years. The amount of choices to buy software to replace the ailing XL spreadsheet has hindered the decision making process for IT administrators for years but today, Layton Technology hopes to make that decision a whole lot easier with the release of AuditWizard v8.1 A completely fully automated network discovery and PC auditing software solution simplified right down to a simple point and click user experience, takes all the guess work out of auditing your network. You certainly do not need to be a network administrator or have an IT degree to be able to use our PC audit software and you definitely do not need the IT budget of Google to be able to afford it, on the contrary, AuditWizard PC audit software is by far the most affordable, feature rich solution available on the market today.

An electronic spreadsheet, like Microsoft Excel, is a table of rows and columns that can contain data items or formulas, and is stored as a computer document. The data items can be numbers, words, paragraphs, dates, money values and number formulas among other things. The power of an electronic spreadsheet is its ability to calculate, manipulate and display data based on entries in the table. Without having a specialized computer accounting package, knowing how to use a spreadsheet is very important for managing your business. Being able to set up and understand a spreadsheet will help in predicting likely financial outcomes. You may be able to better forecast possible increases or decreases in your expenses or income, based on what you know now. But a spreadsheet is also used for the general analysis of data, including scientific results from experiments, statistical analysis, and of course, analyzing various financial models.

It still amazes me to learn how many companies are managing their IT networks using XL Spreadsheets. This is either a compliment to Microsoft for creating a powerful spreadsheet application that serves many purposes or is it a sign of lunacy on behalf of IT? Many businesses still rely on using XL spreadsheets to keep tabs on their IT infrastructure, be that running an IT Help desk or auditing their network. Is this just a case of the old school verses technical phobia or is it just budget conscious IT departments? Whats wrong with the good old spreadsheet anyway one might ask? Why be sucked into using technology for technology sake?

By choosing ready-made spreadsheet solutions instead of using spreadsheet-generating programs, business owners can economize time and also reduce costs substantially. Ready-made spreadsheet solutions are available in a wide range of formats, serving for a variety of predefined purposes. They are the ideal tools for companies who lack the financial resources and / or the staff required for generating spreadsheet solutions with specific programs. At present, the most requested types of ready-made spreadsheet solutions are "Spreadsheets for Small Business" and the subcategory "Spreadsheets for Actors". The first wall is what I call "spreadsheet suffocation." It is that stage of information sharing pain that causes people to start cussing. Where did you save the Johnson calculations? Who has the orders spreadsheet locked? Where did my new inventory list go? Did someone write over it? There was 2 days work in that spreadsheet! When a team of people reaches this point - whether they are a small company or a department within a larger enterprise - they need a central collaboration solution built. They may be able to buy it or they may have to build one, depending on their specific needs... but the pain of trying to collaborate is now so high that they are suffocating - a significant growth bottleneck has set in.

Use different restaurant spreadsheets for each group of employees.Employees working in the night shift should have different spreadsheets for day shift employees. Employees working in the kitchen should have a separate spreadsheet from those working on the floor as servers, bartenders and cashiers. Employees working at-will or part-time should have a different spreadsheet from those working full-time at the restaurant. 2. Do not be afraid to rotate. Rotation may seem impractical at first because employees unfamiliar with a new set of skills will most likely work slow and commit errors more often as they learn the ropes. However, pairing a veteran with a learner and scheduling the rotation during dull business hours will pay off during peak periods when you need an extra hand.

Last night, a factory manager in Singapore stared at his Dell Latitude waiting for his master inventory to be updated by his supplier in Korea. Meantime in Seoul, emails are frantically exchanged among inventory clerks at three factories to produce a final document. Yesterday afternoon a CFO submitted financials for the Quarterly Board report. This morning his admin found out the most current HR data was on HRversion5.xls, not on HRversion4.xls that he used. The National Sales Manager finally received monthly forecast spreadsheets from six Regional Managers, who each collected spreadsheets from their respective sales teams. Even though it took two hours to painstakingly combine all the data, cut & paste errors produced an overage of more than $1 million in forecast revenue.
