The first thing I do when I estimate a painting job is to get a feel for the customers motivation for their paint job. Are they looking to sell? Are they fixing the home up for a special event, like wedding or birthday? Or is it just overdue and really needs a paint job? The next thing I do after I have digested their reason for painting their home, is to look at the job and IMAGINE doing the job. Go through the job in your mind. Making notes about the job, things that may affect the time spent working. It could be anything like we cant use a ladder to paint the family room ceiling because the room is too large and we have to cut in the lights, or there is a lot of spackling to do like cracks and nail pops. Try to get a "feel for the job". Will it take longer than usual, or will it go faster than normal? Is the area cluttered? Will you be able to move fast or slow? Is there going to be a lot of traffic? Are there kids or pets? I do all this before I measure.

There is software that you can find on the internet that can help you access your documents. The basic software is free and on most occasions the only program required for users. To remove the password that was set on the excel file you can use the password remover software. This is is a program that may be used to remove, retrei or unlock a password on an Excel sheet or workbook. Most passwords that are used to protect files are usually given to the workbook or individual spreadsheets. This allows users to view the file without making any changes to the structure. The only person who can modify the data is the creator of the file.

Then youve come to the right place. The LEFT or RIGHT function returns the leftmost or rightmost characters from a text value. Example: =LEFT(A2,3) If value in cell A2 were 184770 the formula would display the number 4. =Right(B3,2) If value in cell B3 were 16579 the formula would display the number 7. LEN (length) returns the number of characters in a text string. Example: =LEN(A2) If the value in cell A2 is 16498 then the formula will display 5. Combine the two in a single formula example. Say you have a single digit which indicates length in.125 increments. Double digits indicates length in whole inches AND.125 increments. =IF(LEN(D2)=2,LEFT(D2,1)+(RIGHT(D2,1)*0.125),RIGHT(D2,1)*0.125) If the length of the value of cell D2 (the length number) equals 2 (which means it is double digit), then add the left digit plus the right digit multiplied by 0.125, otherwise take the single digit and multiply by 0.125.

IF Definition: IF(CONDITION, action or value if CONDITION is true, action or value if CONDITION is false) "If" Formula can work for anything that is based off of the data in another column. =IF(E15="ALUMINUM 2219", "TRUE", "FALSE") If the text of cell E15 is exactly "ALUMINUM 2219-T81" then the selected cell will display "TRUE", otherwise "FALSE" will be the value. This is a fairly easy macro to write and is good practice for beginners. Now we will make a message box automatically pop up when opening your workbook. You can either use the Auto Open method or the Workbook Open method. These macros will display the message "Hello" when you open the workbook. Sub Auto_Open() sgbox "Hello" End Sub This code would be located in the module. However, if you use the second method, the code must be in the workbook (double click "This Workbook" in the explorer window). Click on the drop down list (that says General) and select Workbook. Click on the drop down list (that says declarations) and select Open. Private Sub Workbook_Open() Msgbox "Hello" End Sub Youve just created your first macro. I will try to integrate different levels of difficulty from beginner, intermediate, and advanced tips for macros, formulas, and Excel tips in general.

While Excel is a perfect tool so long as your data can be maintained in simple lists, the moment you have to manage more complex data or make frequent changes in the data, you are better off using the Microsoft Access database. Of course, you may still need to exchange data between Excel spreadsheets and Access database to conveniently present some data or till all the data is managed in Access. Excel spreadsheets are great to manage databases that can be maintained in the form of lists. For example, a database of the CDs or DVDs that you have is probably easily maintained in Excel. On the other hand, small and medium enterprises may need to maintain records of customers, sales and product inventory. Not only is the data more complex requiring frequent changes but you may often need to combine data from different sources. Microsoft Access is a wonderful database tool that can be used for small databases as well as fairly large databases. It is easy to build the databases and modify the data in Access. Further, there are powerful features built in Access that help it to protect the data in databases and carry out an Access recovery when the need arises.

Another useful function is that you can add hyperlinks to your PowerPoint slides that lead to your MS Excel documents. This can prove useful should you want to have spreadsheets available to add extra information, if it is required during your presentation. Once you have created charts in MS Excel you may like any changes to them to be linked to PowerPoint slides. This is possible using the Microsoft Office Excel Chart Object, which allows you to create links to diagrams that have been updated, ensuring your presentation contains the most recent adaptations to spreadsheet data. Another application that you can paste your MS Excel data into is MS Word. This can be beneficial to those who need to create informative documents that feature spreadsheets.

When it comes to using Microsofts Excel Spreadsheet program there is no question that there are a variety of ways to accomplish many tasks. One of the things I like about Excel is the ability to format multiple columns at the same time giving them the same width. If you are unfamiliar with how this is done, read on and take a look at the steps I perform to achieve this task. You will see that it is very easy to do. The first thing you want to do, obviously, is open up Excel. Once Excel is displayed on your screen, go ahead and type in cell "A1" the month name "January". In the cell "B1" type in the month name, "February", in "C1" type in "March" and so on until you type in all twelve months each in their own cell on the spreadsheet.

If its used to anywhere near its full potential it can allow you to amaze your friends and colleagues and more importantly allow you to save time and work smarter and faster. Many people spend a long time building spreadsheets with little forward thinking and therefore making it difficult to re-use a spreadsheet or work book or really difficult to even just update the same sheets without having to repeat a lot of the work already put into it. The first important rule that I always follow when creating a spreadsheet is to have the long term vision in mind. I do not mind investing time and energy into something I do once that can be reused over and over again.
